I am about to purchase an Edirol R-4 for event production, and was wondering where I might be able to get an external battery box for longer record times.
I am familiar with sonicstudios.com, but the box is $250, and it looks like it's a pain in the butt to order from them, as there is no online/credit feature, only mail etc.
So what is everone's solution for external power for my soon to be new R-4 unit?
Thanks,
Michael

very well documented on this board. wal-mart 6v portable DVD battery does the trick.

thanks Sleepy, but I wasn't able to find any record of this when I searched for R-4 power supply.

whoa! sorry, it's 9v, not 6v.
from a post in the R4 team thread:
Runs off 9v external DC power, tip negative, same plug as the UA-5 (adaptaplug M, OD 5.5mm, ID 2.1mm)

Would the adapta plug work with something like this? http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4744610

What's well-documented is how to power the UA5. That info is everywhere on TS, and the good news is that you can power the R4 using the EXACT SAME batteries and cabling. So, don't search for R4 power, search for UA5 power topics.
