Title: 18 awg overkill? ...project complete w/pic

I've been using Canare star quad for a few years and wanted to try a set of silvers. I'm anxious to hear the difference.

- 3 twisted 18-AWG silver coated copper (19 strands of 30-AWG) wrapped with a silver coated braid and teflon
- Neutrik X-HD's
- Cardas solder
- 3 layers tech-flex (red, blue, black)

the regular techflex is pretty prone to fraying and coming apart but that alpha brand i use is super tough and only 1 layer is needed

to be honest, the 3 layers was purely for aesthetics ...same with neutrik x-hd's for that matter.

i've never had a problem with techflex fraying once it's properly terminated to the connector, but the middle blue layer was 3/8" and was a pain to run, it kept fraying ...the 1/4" red and black were easy by comparison.

do you have a link to the alpha brand or someone that sells it? ...i'd be very curious to see what kind of selection they have.
