Title: Roland R-07 newer version being released?
Post by: kylieshotpants on January 24, 2024, 03:50:36 PM
Hi

Given the age of this product, is there any sign of an updated model?

I bought mine when it came out and love it and use it a lot, but it is showing signs of age/wear - the SD card slot door just broke in half!

Knowing my luck I buy a new one, and then a revised product will get released soon after!

I haven't heard anything, but i imagine a 32bit float version will come out at some point.  Seems to be all the rage.

I don’t think anyone will reliably be able to say. Those in the know are restricted by NDAs.
In my experience with ZOOM, there tend to be a price drop a few months ahead of a replacing product.
I don’t know if the same is true with Roland.
As much as I love my R07, I personally wouldn’t buy a replacement that wasn’t 32bit float at this point in time.

You may want to check out the Zoom H1 Essential.  32 bit float

Same thought, but I would wait for the first reports on how the pre-amps performs.
The H1n wasn’t quite in the R-07 league.

Zoom claims that Mictrak M2 and M4 have F series pre-amps, but only the M4 has inputs for external mics (and the form factor is not exactly stealth).

One could hope for the tiny Deity PR-2 recorder to be released soon.
