Title: New Vegas 8 released - sweet upgrade deal
Post by: blastroknow on September 11, 2007, 03:19:30 PM
Just got the email from Sony.  I've been using the last Sound Forge Vegas release {ver 4 + dvd} and the upgrade deal is $150 from any previous version!  DVD Architect Pro 4.5 is included in the deal, too.

Expanded audio mixer but I guess since Sound Forge went multitrack that isn't so much a big deal {although I passed on the ver 9 Sound Forge upgrade}.

Multicamera Workflow New!
Edit multicamera productions intuitively and quickly by specifying shots as you watch your project. Switch between as many as 32 video sources with a keyboard command or a click of your mouse. Vegas Pro 8 software keeps all unused shots as alternate takes to make fine-tuning your edits more efficient.

Does this sound like a replacement for the Excaliber plugin to you?

$400 for me to go from Studio to Pro but I'm tired of doing multi-cams with composite envelopes.

The mixing console is a nice addition, that was missing for such an awesome audio app. And even though SF went multitrack, I find Vegas MUCH MORE useful for 95% of my audio needs. The fact I can stay 100% non-destructive to my original files and render out anything I want using full automation and plugin support is just awesome.

But, I'm surprised no one mentioned this (considering this is a taper's forum after all):

Support for opening and rendering FLAC files.

Now that is sweet. Full support for FLAC! Just drop flac files right into the timeline, edit them, and render back out to flac. WOW! Does any other non-destructive NLE do that? If you had a recorder that could record to flac, you could potentially stay 100% flac throughout your end-2-end workflow. Pretty neat!

You're going to have to be way more specific than that, LOL. Typical Apple fandom...

Are you talking about Logic? Or FCP? And what feature specifically?
