Anyone have experience running this?I recorded Anders with akg c480b/ck61 into m148 into tascam dr100mk2 using xlrs into deck. The second night there was distorted bass throughout the whole show.Any ideas why this may have happened?
-
- Pads engaged on the AKGs?
- What input level on the Tascam?
The 148 puts out a straight +20dB, right 148 owners? So perhaps not using the pads would result in the signal coming into it being too hot?

Didnt use pads.Levels were at -4 to-6dbs.Had on low gain on deck.Just got the m148 so i am learning this combo.I will practice at home before next use.Same set up 1st night and no problems but sound was way louder second night.thanks for responding.

I just got one of these. I have read WAY MORE POSTS in thge last few weeks than I care to admit. One thing to check is after getting a full charge hit the XLR with a multimeter to make sure you are getting a solid 48v+ Sounds like one dead cell can make wierd things happen with it.

on the m148 correct
-
52 volts so I am good on that

Welp that's the extent of my knowledge. Probably an overload then.
Good luck!

I run 148>dr100mkii. I go xlr out of 148 and xlr into tascam with ithe tascam set to line in. I have a hard time getting my levels up with this combo. I usually have the tascam cranked all the way up, I don't think I've ever seen it overload.
-
Yeah make sure you're set to line in and not mic in.

Thanks so much for the help.Stupid question is line in in the menu or on outside of recorder?
-
so what im thinking is I need a dual xlr to 1/8 cable for a true line in on the tascam. Is that how I would line in on this deck from the m148 because if i go xlr in with phantom power is that a line in also.

It's a switch on the bottom of the tascam

Thanks for your help I really appreciate you all. I want to make great recordings to be a contributor instead of only taking.

We all start somewhere.I learned to fish by asking many questions and paying attention.I am off to a good start.AKG c480b/ck61>m148>dr100mk2.I believe when I get the ck63 caps I will be in good shape. So thanks for helping the noob.

I'm not sure it makes a difference. There are two line ins on that DR100MKii...one is from the XLRs and one is from the 1/8 inch jack. As discussed in another thread recently, alot of recorders nowadays don't really have a 'true line in', at least in the sense that the routing is any different than the mic in routing. The only difference between the two is 20db in sesitivity. Other than the sensitivity difference, I don't know if that's the case on the DR100MKii. You'd think that the line in from the XLRs might be a different routing from the line in on the mini jack.
All things equal, I tend to prefer using the locking XLRs ahead of the 1/8 mini jack as an input connection, but over the years I can't say that it's made that much difference to me. I know some people are concerned about the connector on the mini jack pulling out but I've never had an issue with that.

Make sure phantom is off on your d100, and with only 20db bump from the 148 u should deff have to add gain from your deck to get your levels where u like them. Highly doubt things need to be padded. Ed

Thanks for your kindness folks.

It was the line/mic in switch on bottom of deck
Thanks everyone for helping John out.
Doug Oade's 148 now has a new home!
