I was wondering if you'd be willing to upload a non-matrixed sample of this? I mean a 1-2 min. sample that is still M and S and not L and R. I ask because I'd like to play with mixing a MS myself sometime as I don't have much experience with it.

I would really like that as well - I have no experience mixing m/s and no fig 8 capsule...

I've got 45KB/sec upload speed, so you may have to be patient.  Figured I would give a whole song rather than just a snippet though.

Let us know what you learn after playing around.  Have fun!

I'm new to all of this and have been reading up on M/S recording, as I 've got an LSD2 and it seems this mic is well suited for this type of recording.  But I've got a question or 2:

1) Instead of setting one capsule to card to be the 'M', could I plug the SBD into that channel since it will be feeding me a mono signal?

My thinking is that since a good bit of mixing is done in post, the SBD would give me a very clean 'M' track to mix the fig 8 stuff into.

2) Or will screw up something will the power to the mic, since it's that funky split cable?

I'm a computer guy by trade and keep thinking back to SCSI termination problems.

Can you physically do this?  Possibly - not sure what kind of impact phantom power will have on the board feed...  or even the board itself.

Is it a mid/side recording?  No.  MS implies 2 microphones arranged as coincidentally as possible.

NEVER feed a soundboard phantom power unless you have enough money to replace the channel you fry.

I guess that answers that question.   ;)

D'oh !! Didn't even think of that. That's why I come here and ask questions

Were you guys able to download it?  I just took a look at the logs, and it doesn't seem like anyone has downloaded that file...   Let me know if something is wrong and I'll fix it, I tried it at work on Friday and it seemed to download fine for me.

???
