I ran those Avantone hypers last night...w/Sat. sample.

I like the way the recording came out but I think I lost the vocals somewhere. I tend to tape from the right side in this place (facing the stage). It's also a challenge because as  the first pic shows, the stage is about 8' or so off the floor. I had my mics about 8 feet in the air and maybe that's where my problem was. The drums and bass were strong, guitars were nice, but the vocals didn't come through in the recording like I'd have expected. I'm guessing the vocals may have been coming out of the monitors that were on the floor.

Seance Fiction... a loud metal/industrial band.

Mics in the air! (yeah, I know, my angle's probably off a bit)  ::)

Here's where I'm going tonight. Another challenging place. Ceiling is about 10' and again, I stay to the right side (facing the stage), which is actually just a big to the right of center, but I'm beside a brick wall. DFC is just too much hassle!  :P Hypers again? The band, Lauderdale,  is alt rock, fairly loud. The first band is Chris Porter and the Back Row Baptists from Birmingham, Ala., kinda country, kinda bluegrass from what little I've heard.

Poor quality, but that's basically the room.

Another angle of the room.

Brian Ferris, Jason Isbell and Rob Malone at the same place last December. I got a pretty decent recording with the CA>R-09 rig despite a chatty crowd.  >:( I haven't taped there since that night! :P

Here's a sample from Saturday night with the Avantone hypers. I was about 30 feet from the stage in a normally not so great sounding building. This is Chris Porter and the Back Row Baptists from Birmingham, Ala. Cool Americana type band.  MSTaper
