Just a different sound by buying a screw-on cap instead of a whole new mic.

Pretty nice stuff. I wish schoeps had a ld that would go on the cmc6 body. Oh well.

agreed...I would love to see schoeps do a LD cap similar to the LD omni you can get for the MBHO's..., but better yet, run it with the m222 t00bs ;D

well, as Brian said, it will offer a little different sound that a standard small diaphragm cardioid cap. LD's generally have a less analytical or detailed sound, a little slower and softer and more musical.

as for the specs, you can probably find those online somewhere

that guy at musicsupply is a clown.  first he lists them at 500 with a bin of 520, no sale.  then he lists them at 395 with a bin of 405.  when i was loking at some 4011's he had them listed at a ridiculously high price, and they weren't selling, and he kept relisting them at the same price. i wrote him explaining that they were available for much cheaper elsewhere.  looks like he's pimping stuff a little more affordable and not carring high dollar stuff that ties up his $$ for so long because he was overpriced.

ranting, sorry
