Am I the only one?
« on: January 06, 2010, 04:28:55 PM »
I know I know.  It's not right.  But I can NEVER copy a DVD from the library or redbox.  I'm attributing it to the sticker they put on the face of the disc.  Any ideas?

Video DVD? Like a regular movie right?

I have had no problems using DVD decryptor on my pc and MacTheRipper on my OSX machine on any DVD movies I have tried from various sources. I prefer using MacTheRipper as it is rock solid even on seemingly scratched DVD's that have been well circulated.

For regular stuff I've used both noted above and agree that either will do the job.

Read up on VOB decryption for more info.

I've had discs that dvd decryptor would not rip.  I used dvdFAB and it worked fine

Weird.  I own that Newplanet plus about 10 other programs.  DVD decrypter w/ DVD Shrink works great on most movies and is what I use 90% of the time.  But no matter what program I use I can never get the damn library movies and Redbox movies to copy.  Errr.

Oh well.  They're only kid movies.   ;D

I've had good luck with DVDShrink on just about everything.,  If that fails it is time for DVDecrypter and then DVDShrink.  And that is on everything.  It could be your reader.  Have you cleaned the reading laser lens???

Mark,
I occasionally help the library "archive" discs - in case they loose them  ;)
MacTheRipper always works fine- something there are bad vob's or errors written in them - usually MTR suggests a fix  by padding the vob

then Pocpcorn burns error free...
too bad you don't have a mac...

please forgive me... couldn't resist

DVD Decrypter or DVD Fab + DVD Shrink if you want to burn to a single layer disc. I've only encountered a few discs that I absolutely could not copy.
