Topic: Software for removing scratches from AVI files

I've a collection of family super 8 films (without sound) that were telecined to avi files a couple of years ago. I've been planning to make some nicely authored dvd's (which I think I can manage), but was wondering if there is any easy to use software (or even better freeware) that can deal with the frames that are scratched?
