Title: Right channel distortion, What could have caused this?

Recorded a show lately using one of my mics and sadly found that the right channel is distorted during the more amplified
parts of the show. During the acoustic low volume part of the show both channels sound great.

What could have caused the right channel to distort? The mic should handle SPL up to 140 dB and I had my meters peaking at - 6 dB.
Gear was M10 (line in)+ SPSB-11 (12 v battery box) + mics.

Is the issue more likely the battery box (low battery perhaps?) or a broken capsule in the mic. ?

If you have a multimeter, check the voltage.  If not, try recording close to a very loud stereo/sound without changing the battery.  Then change the battery and retest.  Just one way to start ID'ing the problem.

Sure that would be a way to trouble shoot and see if the battery is to blame but I was also curious to hear if for
example low battery normally cause just distortion in one channel and not both, and if yes why would that be?

Secondly could the capsule be damaged in a way that causes distortion during high SPL but still performs flawless for lower SPL?
