Title: Has anyone used a Zoom H5?
Post by: Ringside on January 05, 2015, 11:20:31 AM
My question is as follows....

I read that it has a "buffer" setting for concert recording. I'm guessing it lowers it's sensitivity? If so, is this really needed and how good is it? I had a previous Zoom product and found the results to be fine (for my requirements) when just turning the gain down. Is the buffer useful?

I recently got this unit and I I like it. I'm not sure what you are referring to as the buffer.  It does record a backup track for the On board /mini jack input that is 6 dB below user settings.  This can be useful to avoid clipping if you are not closely watching levels. I am going to order the XLR input module which will provide 4 XLR inputs. It seems to be very good for the $
