Reducing crowd noise with Wavelab6
« on: November 06, 2011, 09:38:48 AM »
I need to reduce crowd noise in between songs and wanted to know what is the best way to do this??   I usually just highlight then reduce, but I thought for larger sections there might be a better way.  Thanks

Envelope tool works great for this, esp. since it saves the pattern you last used and applies it to your selection.

Process > Level envelope

You essentially add points to a line and then create a curve to reduce the level of a specific area.  You can drag the points down in a gradual pattern to the level you want to decrease the crowd noise.  Check out p. 189 of the Wavelab6 Operation Manual for a more detailed explanation.

I don't have a manual!! :-X

Help > Operation Manual?  That is where mine is...  It opens a PDF.  I assume I could sendspace it to you if you can't find it in your version.
