Do Jb3s just up and die???
« on: June 16, 2007, 07:34:11 PM »
TS-
so last night, I got all my gear set up, easy as pie, decidde to get a sbd feed with the jb3 just for good measure. plug in my jb3 battery pack, and nothing. The jb3 just stared at me back in the face. I tried holding the power button, nothing. So I first thought damn! the battery pack must of up and died, well, things could be worse.

I tried it at home with the external wall power thing, nothing either. Malt Liquor Damn! So do these guys just sporadically die? or is there a way to burst life backinto it. I have NOT tried to use a paperclip to pushthe reset button. Ill go try that, but just thought id get this out there.

Anyone selling one in the YS?

Carl
Seriously, the band makes the music. Tapers just point mics in the right direction and hit "record".

That's good to hear!  The last patcher I had complained about my AKGs, fluffed schoeps for about 15 minutes, stayed patched in, and farted on me all night long.

Um, in my room, one seam is a little off and I stare at it constantly. It's, like, destroying me.

Anyone selling one in the YS?

I've seen quite a few in the YS over the past few days. You might want to consider your options also. I'd consider an Iriver H120 (with the Rockbox firmware), if you're looking for something a bit smaller. You could also, get a 24 bit recorder. I used to have a MicroTrack, and regret selling it. You can get a MT from Cascademedia.net for $250 (you need to ask for that deal). A 4GB CF card is about $50 now.

Good luck. +T for your troubles.

My JB3 can be tempermental with the batteries.

FWIW - If you haven't already done so, you may want to try a few of the following:
- Try powering up the JB3 without the battery(s) installed
- Try reseating the battery(s)

Music can at the least least explain you and at the most expand you

thanks for all the replies! I think Im being visited by all the ghosts in portland, the ghost of taping past, taping present, and taping future. I always roll with NO batteries in my jb3, and was dumbstruck when I saw one in my jb3, completely ghostly. I took it out, and the jb3 reawaked with open arms, and Im glad to report that we are one again.

And Bean, great idea about keeping the paperclips in the gear bag.

QFT...to this day i still don't how you got that JB3 off the diagnostic screen. i think it had something to do with a firewire connection. i NEVER had a problem with it afterwards. but it is good practice to keep some paper clips in the bag. they come hand for jb3's and other things  :smoking2:
