I assume you mean Windows media files, .wma, right? Why would you want to convert these to FLAC?

winamp media files can be wav's, flac's or shns...if they are associated with winamp, then the "file type" in my computer or windows explorer will call them winamp media files...set your folder to list the file extension name so you can see what type of file they actually are.

A.) In windows explorer under ... Tools> folder options click on the view tab and click off the "hide names of known file types" otherwise  windows will call all files associated with winamp to be winamp media files. be it wav, mp3, flac, shn ect.

B.) Flac is a form of compression inteded to LOSSLESSLY compress WAV files. (good)  not mp3 and such which are already LOSSY compressed. (bad)

The golden rule that always applys. Garbage in garbage out.
the show is over go home please.

Re-associate your FLAC files with the frontend and the SHNs with MKW and turn off the winamp associations within the program. Also turn off the winamp agent.

Then restart if you still have problems. I fixed this on XP Pro myself last week, Chris.

Why would you do this?

this way the person would be decompressing no playing the file...

Still have allthese "winamp media files and can't compress them at all. They are the last on the HD and still take up room. Thanks for the help.
