Which version Rhythm Devils (Toledo) to seed

I'm trying to get a feel for which version people would generally prefer. Track is "Into the Mystic" from 10-21.

are they from 2 different sources?
Seriously, the band makes the music. Tapers just point mics in the right direction and hit "record".

That's good to hear!  The last patcher I had complained about my AKGs, fluffed schoeps for about 15 minutes, stayed patched in, and farted on me all night long.

Sorry, I can't give the source info as I don't want to bias any opinions. Thanks for listening and voting!

I listened to both and cast my vote....interesting poll and I have a feeling half of us will be "suprised" by the lineage we chose.  When it's all said and done, I say seed them both.  I'm all for multiple sources of shows being seeded and never subscribed to the theory tapers of a certain band pooling their sources, picking a favorite, and then only seeding it.  Different people have different tastes (as this poll will show) so why limit their enjoyment?

well john, i could only get the #1 mp3 to play and i'm at work right now, so i can't listen to the flacs.  but the #1 source sounds nice.  there is something about the low end on #1 that seems a little odd and i can't put a finger on it.  its like its got a slight buzz to or something.  thats probably not the right word.  there is something very unique about it though...

i'll give #2 a listen once i get home....

I chose #2 #1 because it sounds more natural to my ears.  #1 #2 sounds compressed, lacking dynamic range relative to the other.  The difference in dynamics makes it harder to hear other differences (for me, anyway), but perhaps because of the broader dynamics it seems I hear more musical detail in #2 #1 and more background noise (crowd, etc.) in #1 #2.

Edit:  Oops, had my #s mixed up.  Fixed.

i went with #2.  i thought it was a little brighter then the first source and because of that, i preferred it.  source #1 was too muted or muddy to my ungolden ears.  i mainly focused on the vocals in the mix for my unprofessional opinion.

Thanks for the help guys. I seeded the #2 source. The recordings were exactly the same except I used the Wavehammer tool from SF5 on #2, and #1 was the original recording. Not sure why I tried it in the first place, but my ears liked it despite the fact that it is a compressed recording. If anyone is interested in the original recording, I can seed that too.

I think i liked source 1 better, source 2 sounds more compressed to my ears, and more balanced, but i like how things sounded in the rd2006 track better than the rythymdevils track

that said, both sound great
