Determining run times
« on: September 06, 2005, 08:43:46 PM »
I dunno if this has been asked but if you are trying to determine the run time of, let's say, a 9V DVD batt and VRbox to an array of equipment, would it be accurate to determine this if you are running it in the quiet?  I do not have a stereo system and the walls are too thin here to let the TV fly for the day.  If I run it in the quiet, will the run time be the same as if the signal were kicking at a real show?

In my experience, the preamp/phantom power draws more current when in use.  Both my V3 and MV100 have blinked low battery during loud transients when the batteries were low but not run out.  If you have a clock radio, you can use that as a source and put the mics right at the speaker.  You should get ample signal to do your test and you can always toss a blanket over the radio to mute it for your neighbors.
