I live in a dusty area, and also a lot of dog dander. Having intermittent issues with my pc when connecting the players. Happened a couple of times blew into the port and voila!
Any actual solution?

Use 1 & 2 to remove major gunk, then follow up with 1 & 3. If you're cleaning a microUSB or USB-C port, the brushes are probably too big, in which case you could put a dab of DeOxit on the male connector and plug/unplug multiple times.
