Marantz PMD660 / Juice Box Question
« on: April 17, 2008, 06:27:28 PM »
can i run the pmd660 off of a juice box designed to work with the jb3?

the output on the jb3 wall adapter is 5V-2.4A
the output on the 660 wall adapter is 5V-2A

if i remember correctly the juice box only puts out 2A anyway but i dont have a meter handy and dont want problems....any thoughts on this before i run out and buy a meter?

thanks,
T

The juice box was designed for the JB3 and MT which use about 225ma to 350ma.  It may work but probably will fail if you try to draw 2Amps (2000ma) from it.  I wouldn't recommend using the Juice Box for current draws above about 500mA.

I doubt the pmd660 draws the 2A the wallwart is rated for, but you should hunt around to find out what the actual current draw of the 660 is.

if my calculations are correct the pmd660 will draw 800ma.

correct....as per the sticker on the bottom of the 660 it pulls 0.8A or 800MA

I wouldn't recommend using the Juice Box for current draws above about 500mA.

but it looks like its not a good idea as per Todd R's post.....and he should know  :)
