Topic: How to make a FLAC fingerprint file.

Now I realize that some of you are going to think this was a useless post. I mean...who doesn't know how to make a FLAC fingerprint file?!!!

Well I didn't. I looked for an obvious answer on the FLAC frontend site as well as etree. If the answer was in either of those places...I didn't see it.

This is only offered as a solution when using Mike Wren's FLAC frontend on a Windows system:

After you have converted your WAV files to FLAC files, clear the files from the FLAC frontend window. Then go to ADD FILES. Go to the folder where the FLAC files you just made are located. Load the FLAC files just like you were going to convert them back to WAV. Once you have all your files in the window, click on the FINGERPRINT tab. A standard SAVE FILE window will pop up. Pick a name for the fingerprint file, as well as the location you'd like to save it to. When you click SAVE, a DOS window will open up and the fingerprint files will be created and saved in the location you chose.

Walla. MOD's feel free to delete if this seems like COMMON SENSE (which I sometimes lack)

so youre saying you DONT have a fingerprint button???

wtf??? if thats the case, uninstall and reinstall another version

no bean, I have a fingerprint tab. I just got confused regarding when to use it. I didn't realize that I had to load the FLAC files into the FLAC frontend window first, then click on the FINGERPRINT tab.

Like I said, most people won't need this info, but I figured I'd post it anyway.

Here is one thing that has bitten me before.  When I have my .WAV in the frontend, I encode w/ the delete input files checked.  Make sure you uncheck that before hitting the Fingerprint button.

isnt Mike's tutorial still up somewhere...

he had one with arrows drawn, telling you to drag and drop, and how to make sure they all go in the correct order...

maybe it is up on the etree wiki now...

I got burned by the delete files option when I first started using mkwACT and I wanted to burn audio, and did, and then deleted the (temp) WAV files, went back and found no SHNs either...

doh!
