It run on HX9V or HX20V?
I was successful with unlocking the 30 minute recording on the  HX20V last night. I also have HX50V  that I'll look into unlocking tonight.  :coolguy:

Interesting that this popped up again. I recorded a show with my a6000 the other day. The recording only made it 24 minutes before the camera shut down. I thought the battery died since the a6000 battery life is horrible (at least compared to my old Canon cameras). Turned out I only used about half the battery. I'm assuming it shut down due to the heat issue, so it appears even if you have an a6000, hacking it won't do you much good.

I'm usually happy with a selection of songs on video since I won't watch an entire show on video. In the future I will have to start and stop the camera so it doesn't overheat. Based on the battery life I should be able to get about 45 minutes of video out of each show, which is good enough for me. I don't see enough video friendly bands to make it worth investing in a real video camera.

I was pretty excited when this first appeared, but alas found no satisfaction with my cheap Sony Cybershots. They do a fair job in the usually low light shows I tape. I have multiple batteries, and get a bit over an hour on one.
But man do I keep busy, because in addition to a main camcorder, I run up to four of these Sonys at a time, and they shut down after @ 29 minutes recording. So I'm constantly running around (through crowds at times) checking timing, and batteries. Ugh.

I've attempted on both the HX50V & HX20V. Only successful with the HX20V.

This is a great hack. Thanks deadhoarse. I have the Sony RX100 M3. I recorded about 1:30 so far without issue or unusual heat buildup. There's your answer DigiGal.  ;D
