Topic: SoundCloud for storage and streaming??

Anyone using this platform for full show uploads?  $99/yr isn't too bad if it's functional...
Thoughts?

I've used it for years. I put many of the non LMA shows I record there for streaming after I torrent them for download.

Soundcloud also has a download feature but I don't think it's  lossless.

I used it for years to host the shows from non LMA artists we would post to nyctaper.  It works well and has some cool analytics.  Since I always have full permission for anything I post, I've moved everything to the taperssection on LMA to save the $100.

If you allow downloads on your tracks, the downloaded files will indeed be lossless (the user will download whatever file format you uploaded) but they have to have a Soundcloud account to download.

Soundcloud is pretty good and as far as I know they allow you to upload lossless files...I´ve uploaded complete concerts there in the past...great storage of concerts.

I use Google Drive, same price as Soundcloud (99 bucks/year). No media player, but it allows for downloading of lossless files, and easy to share. If you have Play Store credits (from Google Rewards or similar), you can put it towards that. I end up paying like 50 bucks a year for 1 TB.

Somewhat related: If you just want to grab a set that you like which is not setup for downloading, and you don't mind mp3's, https://soundcloudmp3.org/ works very well.

Can't see to get SoundCloud gapless for playback.  Any ideas or tips?

Soundcloud has been more curtailed to electronic music, tbh. DJs post their set there and weekly radio shows etc.

I've been using it since 2010. I just post samples of my concert recordings there, but post full DJ sets on there that I tape.

I used to use SoundCloud. Just for samples though. Even if I could upload full shows I still prefer to upload audio+screenshot to YouTube. Much bigger audience.

At this point 80% of what I record is welcome on archive.org so it all goes there now.
