Topic: Need advice on UA-5 config.

Hi,

I'm gonna run my UA-5 bmp2+ for the very first time in the field since I bought it and I don't want to screw up the tape (Roger waters!)

So,my rig will be

AT853 > Samson PM4 > UA-5 bmp2+ > Iriver

Here are my questions

From the front size.

-Hi/Z Lo/Z selector? Which do i have to choose?
-Rec Source (digital I guess)
-Monitor SW OFF

From the rear side.

-ADV Off (16 bit output)

Is this config OK? Is there something I'm forgetting?

I believe you would want LoZ setting on and Analog...not digital since your mics coming into the unit are an analog signal.

I ran my UA5 w/o a mod for two and half years and then the start of '07 I got the bmp2+ mod. After running it for a couple months now let me tell ya its sweet and it allows me to run my gain hotter then ever. Don't be afraid to run hot w/ this mod (-3) and see the red light flicker on the heavy parts. +t for taping Roger Waters w/ a pretty large set up. How are ya pulling this off? Big pants or is the wife taping all this to thigh?

Last time I was at the same venue that the concert is gonna be played today, we entered w/o problems even with an IEM scanner, an UA-5. That was at the Depeche Mode 2006 show.

Today I'm gonna carry this by myself, don't know how I'm gonna make it, but I'm sure I'll pass through the security chord (they only search for drinks in your bag!)

Hi,

I'm happy and sad with the recording tonight... Everything was set to put the NJB3 recording, but minutes before i was checking the levels and one of them was dead. I WAS ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIED!!! What the hell had happened? Thanks god I always take my DPA with me, so I recorded the full show with them.

10 minutes after the start of the second set I was wondering around what could had happened, so I looked back to my bag in the dark and I found out that one of the interconnects was unplugged (and they were set tight with adhesive strip). Minutes after my UA-5 bmp2+ was running and I got a 65 minutes recording aprox.

Thanks god I have the full set in DPA4061, but I could test HOW FANTASTIC IS THIS PRE AND THIS MOD! +T for Busman, your mod is worth I paid for it.

Anyway, it has been a VERY DIFFICULT show, lots of people (Sold out), and I had the bad luck of being sorrounded of screming girls, drunken people, talking talking talking and talking.

Not one of my best tapes or the cleanest ones, but after all I have the full show recorded in DPA4061 and I could try the UA-5 bmp2+ in the field and I think I'm in love with it...

I'll post a sample of the UA-5bmp2+ recording tomorrow.
