Marantz PMD690: not popular for taping?

Recently, one was out on ebay for $350, with no takers: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150271789939

I hardly ever see this model mentioned here on TS.
Apart for being big and clunky, the specs are pretty similar to the PMD670.

Is there any particular reason why it's not suitable for taping?

at first glance...

no digi input
16bit
1.2gig max file size
2gig max card size

the biggie seems to be the 1.2 gig max file size, but then again if it does seamless splits...
