Title: Church Audio ST9100 -> R09 Cable Required
Post by: jamroom on December 07, 2007, 11:00:09 AM
Hi guys

I just bought an R09 and ordered the Church Audio 9100 package, including the ST9100 pre. Question is - what is the most suitable cable to connect them - keeping in mind the problems with the R09 and input jacks detaching from the pcb?

Cables baffle the crap out of me - you know - which one is the best, etc.

Any info will be much appreciated, as I guess I need to get something before the package arrives.

Sonic Solutions (user guysonic here) has a section on his website with a cable and technique that will minimize strain.  Also other users here can build a good cable.....

But this application is obviously touchy, right?

I use a right angle mini to mini that I got from here:

Cool - thanks for the rapid responses. I'll see if I can get something similar over this side of the pond (UK). I guess I will need to be careful to get the right length cable.

Finding a similar cable is proving a touch difficult. I have spent the last 40 minutes searching online and found nothing. Can any UK guys point to a supplier over here?

Thanks.

Had a similar problem finding a cable in the UK.

Managed to get one from a small shop in Manchester, which I probably couldn't find again if m life depended on it. I then conspired to lose it.

Maplins seems to be the best bet for cables etc over here, but I don't think they stock a R/A cable.

Good Luck.

Dave.

EDIT: You could use one of these http://www.felmicamps.co.uk/products/felleadsandadapt.html

ebay, all different lenghts...cheap or they are actually very easy to make yourself with a couple neutrik right angle plugs and a little wire, i made one for my 9100 about 4-5 inches and works great

I'll keep looking, but have found bugger all here in the UK - despite a long search.

What length of cable would be best to go between a Church Audio preamp (the 9000 in my case) and an R-09?  All of my taping will be in the open on a mic stand with the recorder and preamp on the floor, so would a really short cable be the best way to go?  Like 2" or less?  Or is that too short?  I'll most likely be purchasing it from KindKables, so if Ed's reading this I'd love to hear what he has to say.

I have a cable that is 2-3 inches and use a long run cable to go from the mics to the floor.

I have a cable that is 2-3 inches

Thank you once again for your advice.  :)  It seems like you've come to my aid every time that I've asked a question here at TS.

I had Chris at church audio make me a cable with my stuff.  He used neutrics and Mogami cable...but he didn't use right angles, I wish I had thought about it before hand.  Oh well, no prob's yet

I'm surprised that he doesn't offer cables on his eBay site.  I ordered a mic and preamp package from him but didn't realize that I'd need an extension cable if I wanted to use the mics on a stand.  I contacted him a couple of days ago he's gonna make an 8' extension cable for me to use between the mics and preamp, but I figured that I should use a full-time cablemaker for something specialized like this.

I dont offer cables because I am not really in the cable business..  besides why buy cables from me when there are so many good cable guys here at T.S like NicksPicks.. He can make you just about anything you need if you ask.
