My meager home theater setup
« on: September 23, 2004, 08:51:48 PM »
I figured I would post some pics of my extremely meager home theater setup.

Here is a view of the components, the JBL E100 mains and JBL EC-35 center channel. The TV is a Sony KV-HS34510 34" CRT HDTV.

Here is a close up of the Sony STR-DA5000ES reciever and Sony DVP-9000ES DVD/Two-channel SACD player

Here is a closeup of the Pioneer Elite DV-45A multi-channel SACD/DVD-A player, the Monster HTS-3500 MKII power conditioner and the X-Box

Here is the JBL S120PII 400 watt powered sub

Finally, here are the JBL E20 rears.

All the cabling connecting everything is the new Monster Ultra 1000 THX line.

This is by far nothing special, just thought I would share.  :)

does anyone else think that hardwood floors make certain speakers sound better?  in my old house with carpeting, my speakers didn't sound all that great.  this year with hardwood floors and the same setup - they shine.

edit:  if you don't me asking, about how much did your tv run you.  we have a sony flat screen right now, but its going to be leaving in a month and i'm thinking i'm going to take the plunge and buy a nice television.  (i have a friend that works at best buy and can get things for 5% over cost so hopefully that'll help me out a bit)

I bought the same TV as Jason (complete coincidence) and mine was around $1500.  That is mainly because they are replacing that model with the XBR series.  Great TV

awesome, i'm hoping my buddy at best buy can hook me up with a nice discount.  i'm trying to find a decent hdtv cuz in two years everything is gonna be HD, so i might as well make the plunge now.

2 years ago when I got HD OTA, PBS was full time HD and CBS at night was as well.  I found myself watching shows not for content, but because it was HD.  I thank god everyday that CBS has pulled the HD CBS commercial though.  Now I can't stand it if it is not in HD.  A good example being the Ryder Cup!  If CBS can broadcast college footbal in HD, NBC should have forked out the cast to do the same for the Ryder Cup!  People ask what the difference is and laugh that I say it is a drastic difference.  Just have to experience it for yourself I say.  Good luck and enjoy!

I've gone through the same thing with friends for the past year.  One of my buddies has had a Mits 65" HDTV ready for almost 4 years now... and JUST got an HD box for it about 2 months ago.  It's amazing how skeptical some people are... and even more amazing how much better HDTV looks than SD :)

Amen! How bad did it suck having to watch it in 4:3 on a widescreen HDTV!

CBS knows what their doing with sports in HD and ABC isn't far behind. Monday night foortball in HD is awesome, but NBC really needs to gt with it. I couldn't stand watching the Ryder with such a crappy picture. Now Nascar in 5.1 on TNTHD is the straight up shizzle!  :)

I think it's great Heath. The quality of the picture on my TV when watching DVD's has increased, as well as soundstage when playng music if you can believe it. I ran my HD cable feed through it, and it didn't look as good as running it straight from the wall, to the box, to the TV. That's the only negative thing I can say.
