new bag option
« on: May 25, 2007, 05:28:08 PM »
While poking around online to figure out which model RakGear backpack I have (never did figure it out), I ran across the following shelved line of backpacks:

Thought some might find it useful.

Which model bag did you get?

How deep are the shelves and how sturdy are they?

Is the headphone port big enough to pass XLR connectors?

;D  glad you posted that you have one?

Hmmm. Could be what I have been looking for.  I wish they would give the dimensions of each compartment.  Any way that you could measure and post them.  Any other compartments other than the big main one?  Any help would be appreciated. +T Brian for posting this.

Do you guys find that you get hassled at large shows with a back pack? I know most venues up here don't allow back packs in at all anymore.
I know you like, tape for people's approval and stuff, and wave your tapes around like they're your dick...  but even you can't actually think section tapes from philips sound good.

Remember, it's not a back pack.  It's an equipment bag.

The only places I've had that issue are venues in southwest VA.  I repeat the above statement until it finally sinks in or they call a supervisor. Supervisors usually get it right.  Maybe it helps to have a handle on the top and a way to tuck the straps like the cairne but I'm back to using an eastpack book bag for now and had this problem a few weeks ago.

It is so bad up here that Lynchie had to carry his gear into a show in a garbage bag b/c they wouldn't allow his "backpack" last time at the Verizon Center.

I had to take my Kelty Internal frame redwing to teh car going into Ratdog at the Palace Theater in Greensburg, PA in 11/2005. but have never been hassled before or since....I now have a messenger-style bag that holds mics/shocks/722/cables/etc and is alot less to deal with than a backpack. and I know that I wont get hassled with this bag for sure!

I have a pretty massive Targus backpack, and the smaller auxilliary backpack, and have never had an issue getting it into any show where taping is allowed.  I usually stick with the "Taping is allowed, I am a taper, and this is my gear bag" line.

Same here... I gave up on backpacks a while ago.
