Title: Recovering old info from a formatted CF card?
Post by: brianp on May 08, 2009, 10:50:43 AM
I have an 8GB compact flash card that I formatted but did not reuse. Is there a way to retrieve the info that is still on the CF card since I didn’t really write over it yet? I lost a recording recently with the theft of my laptop and the only version of it is on this flash card. I did some google searches but couldn’t find much info. I'm guessing the info is lost, but figured I'd ask here to see if this is something that is possible.

Has anyone ever had to do something like this with a CF card by chance? I'm on a Mac if that helps or hurts anything.

Scroll down to the "Data Recovery" section near the bottom of the page. One of the links there might help. I would recommend PhotoRec but don't know if there is a MAC version. Or do a search for "recovery software" here on TS, several other hits, this was just the first one and it includes many of the programs recommended.

Good luck with getting the file back.

I've had great success with Data Doctor Recovery.
