Title: EAC error message
Post by: JNT on June 28, 2004, 11:28:06 AM
I recently switched to from 98 to XP.  Everytime I use EAC to write I get the following error message.

write error
write blocks
logical unit not ready
long write in progress

I've searched online and found lots of posts where people had the same error message but no solutions.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Joe

Total guess, here:  Have you tried setting the "compatibility mode" to Win98?  Just right-click the EXE and select properties, then the compatibility tab.

Brian, I haven't tried that yet but I will now.  I also tried upgrading the ASPI althought that's not supposed to be necessary with newer versions of EAC.  It didn't change anything.  The disc is burning almost to the end before the error message appears.

When I try running EAC in Win 98 compatability mode I get this error message

The ASPI interface could not be initialiced correctly! (error E8h)
(no host adapters found)

I guess the only way to remove the new ASPI is in the registry?

Is there another burning program that uses cue sheets?  I like EAC for extraction but I always have to jump through hoops to get it to burn correctly.

Joe, you could try BurnAtOnce.  I find the front end to be a little utilitarian but if your a fan of EAC and it's gui design this is very similar.

It's homepage (http://www.burnatonce.com")

I couldn't get their download to work, if you have issues, download it from here instead as I did. (http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_software/cdr_applications/burnatonce.cfm")
