digital noise on recording
« on: March 26, 2012, 03:47:35 PM »
I got a digital noise on the recording from my SD mixpre preamp either from the batteries runing low or the levels running hot.  My question is can I run a high pass filter to remove the noise or other editing effect to remove the noise?

thank you,

Jeff Prater

Is it a constant noise or random? Can you post a sample?

if thats a constant noise search a place with no music on your recording, find out the frequency and isolate it with a good eq.
2015 rig: CA-11 -> CA-9100 -> PCM-M10
2016 rig: Sony PCM-M10 + SP-SPSB-4 microphone plug-in power supply +  SP-CMC8 with Low Sens mod
[backup: CA-9100 - Tascam DR-05 Firmware 2.0 + Yamaha Pocketrak W24]
video 2016: Casio EX-100 HS (same as Olympus Stylus1 - but much smaller - japan import not availiable in EU)

Hi James,

We went home via Philadelphia to see Yarn and made it home safe Sunday morning.

Here is a sample of the noise that seems to be constant:

Sounds very static-y, might be tricky to isolate without affecting the music a lot--does the noise occur during the silent (non-music) portions as well? If so do what TimeBandit said and sample the noise frequency then EQ.
