DVD Studio Pro 3 and 24/96 music dvds
« on: June 05, 2004, 02:25:11 PM »
I've been playing with dvd studio pro 3 today (you can "evaluate" a copy from suprnova) and while it doesn't do dvd-a discs, it DOES make 24/96 dvd-v discs a lot easier than in previous versions.  I just made up a disc for a show in less than 15 minutes

I told DVD SP to create a menu using one of their templates.  I then created a slide show, with a slide for each track.  I used the same still image for each slide and a different audio track for each.  it then has a slide show with a track for each audio tune with the length being the exact length of the audio ttrack

then in the "Project" menu I told it to create 1 track from the slideshow.  this creates a dvd track with separate markers for each slide/tune.

back in the main menu, i made up button names and linked each button to a specific slide/track.

That's it.  It now has a dvd project with a full menu and buttons to each track.  Each track can go forward/back to the next/previous song because the original slideshow had the correct order so it knows what's next or previous.

and because this is dvd-video and not dvd-audio, there's no limitation on the digital output.  full 24/96 digital

If you want to play it on a dvd-v player with a tv, you can easily navigate the menu.

If you want to play it on a dvd-audio player with no tv, the default action of the disc is to select the first button, which is track 1.  so you simply put the disc in and click the "enter" or "select" button on your dvd remote to go to track 1.

here is the "connections" window in dvd sp.  this shows the basic elements and how it's put together.  if you want to try, follow something like this

the .jpg-2, 3, 4, etc are the different slides.  notice how they are 1 track but split within the track.  this makes for the gapless playback since it's 1 track with each tune as a chapter within the track

I'm thinking the Sony DRU-700A, the dual layer burning one.  Just need to make sure it works on Mac and find a decent enclosure to put it in.
