Help me make this recording better!
« on: June 05, 2004, 10:24:42 PM »
Taped Peter Himmelman on Thurs night. Show was either acoustic or piano and vocals...levels came out low...especially when he talked between songs.

heres a clip if what i've got:

http://www.mcpigeon.com/himmel.mp3

This has been amplified 7db and put through the "Classic Softknee" compression setting in Adobe Audition.

Any suggestions on 1) volume and 2)EQing?

I want to make this recording the best it can be seeing as though it isnt all that great. looking to make it a little more clear/crisp with the talking audible.

suggestions?

download audacity and use the amplify, that always seems to work very well for me.
I'll have a bloody mary, a steak sandwich and...a steak sandwhich.

if it were me, id just normalize it, i dont like any compression, sounds dolby-ish, and thats not good IMO!!

normalize to 100% and be done w/ it ;)

just normalize the sound level to 100%, which is 0db!
