My biggest frustration with this and soundforge is it can't open files larger than 2gb, that 1 hour at 24/96.  CEP works though!

not quite true.
while you can't create a wav file larger than 2GB, SF can save/open files larger than 2GB.
if you are recording to laptop via SF, in the save dialog, select .w64 instead of .wav

Anyone have tips for the montage feature?  I'd love to figure out how to mutli-track using my Firewire 410.

Try Vegas 5 (ASIO) from Sony for multi-tracking. It is by far the easiest IMO. In Wavelab to multi-track you have to use ASIO and select multi-stereo/mono? from the file  properties and set the inputs, etc. I have noticed that ASIO blows in Wavelab 5. Vegas 5 finds everything perfectly and works flawlessly from what I have tested.

I am going to multi-track officially for the first time tonight on the vxPocket 440. 2 mic channels and 2 board channels. I'll let you know how it goes.

SF does not support ASIO btw and Wavelab's ASIO drivers are buggy and have never really worked for me. YMMV. Good Luck!
I don't know just where I'm going
But I'm gonna try for the kingdom, if I can

That's wierd.  I have never gotten soundforge 7.0 to open a file larger than 2gb, same with wavelab.  I don't record on them, I use the fr-2 for that, but I do have monda 24/96 files approaching 4gb that I can't get sf or wl to read, but open fine in cool edit pro.  I wonder if I am missing something?   :)  +T's, I think I can actually give you one too!
