yeah- I'm selling some AT853Rx's.  Check the Yard Sale... PM me if interested.

Tickets are dead to me.  Except the ones I have, don't have, and lost.  Not to mention the ones you have, don't have, and lost.   And the ones that other dude has, doesn't have, and lost.  Let me know if you need some tickets, I'm happy to oblige.

Get the Rxs.  Phantom is king!!!

Newbie question: the AT853a is listed to use "either battery or phantom". Whereas AT853Rx are "phantom only".
Am I missing out on anything if I go for the AT853Rx instead? Do they have any obvious advantages?
I intend to run them with a UA5, so I won't ever have to worry about battery power, right?!

if you have a preamp that provides P48, then go with the Rx version. AT853a comes with a battery box/phantom power module (AT8532) which will work off a AA battery, but i will guarantee you brickwalled/distorted recordings in most situations.  if you're recording acoustic, choir and unamplified vocals then the 1.5v power scheme is fine, but certainly not in a concert setting.

Thanks a million, leegeddy!

Is there any concise rundown of all mics that make full use of the phantom power from UA5 (just like 853Rx)?

I've been looking at Bri's excellent gear listing:
http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=35004.0

But does it really specify all common "taper mics" that use phantom power?
