VX Pocket Question (VX440)
« on: January 24, 2005, 04:58:11 PM »
Hi all-

having trouble getting my 440 to take a digi input, the analog ins work fine and it plays back fine, but whatever recording program I use (tried wavelab 4.00 c, SF 6, and Vegas 2.0) gives an error when I try to go into the record mode when taking the digi in on the Digigram In #1. I tried an older driver but stilll the same result.

So I was wondering for you VX users out there, is there a way to select specifically which driver is being used? The instructions say that after installing the Digigram software and then installing the WAV driver (add hardware>etc...) that there are WAV, directsound, ASIO (and more?) drivers installed. How do you know which one is being used and how would one change between the various drivers? Hope this makes sense.

Thanks in advance,
Ben

My experience has been that the drivers are selected with in the audio program. I always use my digi in on my VX 440 and have never had any issues. When I get home I will fire up my lappy and take a look at what i have selected etc If you haven't gotten any better answers

Ok heres what i have got. In wavelab 5 -> Preferences -. audiocard-> I have selected under Recording "MME -WDM VXPocket 440 In 1" and when I want to select the digital Input I select that in the Digigram Wave Mixer. There is an Analog or Digital source button.

Hope this helps

Make sure that you are selecting the digital input in the vx mixer first then open your recording program and it should be set to VX In 1. That is what I do and it works fine. There should be 2? inputs like a stereo in 1 and stereo in 2 as well? Might try that as well. Also, make sure your windows audio properties are set to record from the vxpocket.

Good Luck!

Using Wavelab 4.  First go to Start > Settings > Control Pannel > Digigram.  Make sure the input is set to "digital".  Open Wavelab, go into Tools > preferences > Audio Card.  On the LEFT SIDE! choose Digigram ASIO drivers.

Damn, after spending hours checking every damn setting in the VX window and every f'in setting in my recording software (all of Vegas 2.0, SF 6, and wavelab 4.0c) it turned out that the digi in on my dongle cable was bunk! Ordered a new cable and it works fine. I am happy it is working, and also pissed I spent so much time trying to figure out what the heck was wrong.

Anyway, thanx to fsulloway for helping me troubleshoot this POS and all of you for the suggestions. I guess at least now I know a lot more about the various settings for this soundcard (now that I will probably just pick up a HD recorder in the near future....  ;))

It was my pleasure Ben. So many folks on this board have helped me figure out the whole laptop taping, wavelab, DVDa thing that it's only right to try and pass on some of that info. You're right about the 440 card, it blows. In fact I've got a V2 card on the way so that I can uses Ian's cable that is so much smaller.

I guess because I prefer 24 bit over 20 bit recordings. :P

I ordered mine from www.audiomidi.com

runs $71 with shipping.

30 day return policy, I believe (I had a bitch of a time with this since I didn't figure out my cable was bunk until after the 30 day period)
