As far as I know Battery boxes with level controls acts as attenuators for the mic signal to the line input.

As far as I know Battery boxes with level controls acts as attenuators for the mic signal to the line input.that sounds about right... it appears that one mice is getting about 3dB less than the other one. that could mean that the mics are about 3bd apart, or i am leaning to the attenuator dial/pot is a little screwy or not as calibrated as one would hope. i would probably question using the level control function... might need a tune up... also since the ad20 provides about +17 gain, i have never seen a rig set up to attenuate the signal before it gets hit with gain... normally the other way around.
