Software to play SHN
« on: March 12, 2007, 01:24:39 AM »
I know this has been discussed, but my search did not yield anything.  I've NEVER played SHNs directly...only FLAC (w/ Foobar).  What software supports SHN?  Foobar does not, nor does Winamp.  Is there anything that supports both file types?  Preferably freeware.
Socks are overrated.

both do.  they just require a plugin.  shnamp for winamp.

I love foobar and haven't used winamp in a long, ,long time.

google search for foobar shn plugin

edit: wrong link for the search.  here is a new one

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&hs=SWx&q=foobar2000+shn+plugin&btnG=Search

too lazy to find the correct link ;)

once you find the plugin for your version of foobar and download it all you do is drag the shn dll into the components folder in foobar (on your harddrive)

I tried to attach the dll but couldn't

Yeah, foobar for me, too.  It also does a bit-perfect conversion to FLAC :)

I have been using foobar 2000 for about 3+ years now. I used winamp for years but it didnt have gapless playback and shn's were always a hassle

fb2000 has gapless playback of just about ANY music filetype on the planet

Recent Foobar convert.  I cannot believe that it took me this long.  I have already used it a couple times for SHN>FLAC conversion too.  I just cannot figure out how to get the bitcompare log file to log teh whole comparison.  Very cool app, but it took a few tries to find and install the special edition of 0.83 mentioned in the tutorial linked above...
