No way, that is not an AKG. You need new glasses.

The mic is with certainty made in one of the Chinese factories, just like most new small (and some large) brands. It might be that the company adds a bit to the specs and perhaps screens out the worst lemons.

If you check the rest of the mics in the catalogue they are all same exact look as mics you can get with other brand names.

You can buy them from the manufacturer and the factory add whatever brand you care for. This is how just about any importer has his own brand. The factories often have a catalogue of different "looks" too choose from, and adds look-alikes for any popular microphone. Most of them look good, but you cannot really know what they sound like til you try them. Often they give you a surprisingly good sound for very little money and can be real bargains.

I think he means that it looks more like an AKG 426 than a SP LSD2.

Remove the dome top & it looks just like a 426.

Ease up there my pretensious friend,  I meant it looks  like a AKG 426.  The title of the post said it looks like a LSD2.  I thought more like a AKG 426.  I know its not a AKG 426.  I am not new to this.  I have been taping for 10 years and collecting 20 years.  I know my gear and what gear is out there.  I know what and how many knock offs there are out there from china.  Please don't assume what you think people know or don't know.  This hobby is my passion.  If I am not working with disadvantaged kids, being a dad, husband or friend.  I am reading about gear, recording shows and having fun.  I knew about this mic months ago when it first popped up on the cascade site.  With that said lets get back to the real stuff, discovering interesting gear and bang for the buck mics.....peace out JK

My apologies OthereoneK. I think I just slipped due to what looked like a totally unhelpful comment.

Its cool....we all slip sometimes....now back to this mic.  I can't wait to hear what this sounds like.  Could it be another diamond in the ruff like the LSD2.  Meaning a quality mic at a fair price...One can only hope...Jk

I poked around their catelog and found they has some pretty cheap cardioids with good specs in a matched pair: M39.  I am asking them for some more info on the mics and may be field testing them soon.   They also offer a 30 day, no questions asked return policy which seems to mean they believe in what they are selling.  I find most if not all legitmate sellers do this.   8)

Lots of people use those Cascade Fathead and Fathead II ribbons in their studios.  They are great mics and go for under $200!

If I get a few hundred extra clams I may try to pick up a pair and run blumlein on-stage for some jazz stuff. I bet the ribbons would sound nice on horns

I was thinking of getting some myself for the mic locker.  They are true figure 8 (symmetrical) as well.
