Title: modding a preamp?
Post by: guosh86 on June 24, 2009, 08:58:07 AM
hey guys, here's the scoop...

i've got 2 behringer ultragain 100s that i've absolutely no idea why i bought. its incredibly noisy so i've not used them in a long long while. so what i was thinking of was to try and mod the pre and see what happens

the problem is, i'm not familiar with this at all, but i'll wait for a friend who's pretty gd at it to see what he can do. however, what do you guys think? any idea what i could possibly change? not a big problem if i screw one up as i doubt i'll use it anyway

would a change of the tube make a difference? i've got quite a few headphone amp tubes around and was wondering if it would be compatible with the pre

thanks!

cheers,
guo

In brief, the guys at gearslutz conceced that all components were weak, so you'd have to replace pretty much everything inside to avoid any weak spots in the chain.

ouch, sounds like i'd be better off getting a new pre

thanks though!
