Title: Lumix TS1 - waterproof 720P
Post by: fguidry on February 02, 2010, 05:19:15 PM
OK, OK, I'm a fanboy I guess. I'm digging my second Lumix, this time a waterproof (to 10 feet without a housing) sandproof drop-resistant TS1. Two of my cams had to go to the shop after last year's visit to Hawai`i, so I knew I needed something ruggedized <grin>.

Anyway, my luthier buddy Tony Yamamoto shot the TS1 handheld from the front row of the new Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse performance space in Berkeley, CA. I also had a Kodak Zi8 on stage shooting "over the shoulder" and my Sanyo Xacti HD2000 up by the sound board.

I'm cutting in Edius and WOW! I'm dropping 720P MTS files right on the timeline, running on my 2.6 Core 2 Duo laptop with 2 GB. Only the slightest stutter, the tools are intuitive, the docs are thorough, I'm really impressed. PE7 - Goooooodbyyyyyyy!

Nice!

I just picked up a TS1 also, for an upcoming cruise.  My two previous water cams have bitten the dust.  Good to know that the TS1 can come in handy for land-based shooting, too.  You can never have too many backup cameras.
