it might have a flat battery.
it will not boot with a flat battery even with a charger connected.

If the battery is supposed to be ok, leave it connected to the charger for some time and try to boot. Letting it run flat certainly will have done no good to the battery.

If you aren't sure the iriver is faultless,... good luck?

Search here (team iriver, iRiver FAQ, etc.) And at misticriver.net.  I remember in my lurking before h1xx, that I read a troubleshooting bit about the 2 LED's and what they may or may not tell you.  A few folks (riverpietro?) Are trying to learn to rehab death by improper charger....

Your' is 5v center pos?  VERY common killer to h1xx & h3xx.....

Good luck,
Joe

Based on that website, it doesn't look like they are doing any chip changes on the motherboard (i.e. repairing fried players that have been connected to the wrong chargers).  Maybe they do, but the website seems to indicate that screen replacement is the only service they offer that most of us can't do ourselves (i.e. replacing the hdd, battery or components of the case).

Dont know exactly what your stating when you go to that web page it gives you 5 different options
you can't buy any parts from them that I can see. This is a service center how it worked for me I choose Misc Repair Service paid the 65. through paypal they send you a order number with a address to send the Iriver to make a copy of the email with the addy and sent it to them.
They check out the iriver and let you know how much it is to repair it then they apply the 65 to the repairs you pay the difference. Thats how it was explained to me.
What ever you purchase from them you must send them the iriver for them to replace the part. battery or screen or HDD. Or MISC.
Hope that helps.
Snuffy.. There is a phone number on that site you can call and talk to a rep.

I'm just interested in knowing if they can repair fried iRivers that have been hooked up to the wrong charger.  It requires at least 1, and typically 2 of the chips to be replaced on the motherboard.  I may send an email, put in a call to see what they say.  Battery & hdd replacements are easy (and I couldn't imagine paying someone for the parts & labor to install them).  I haven't ever attempted replacing a screen, however.

I'm 99% sure they will not replace chips on fried players. All repair services do boardswap - or even player swap.
These days, if you do not have the skills (or know somebody with the skills) you're out of luck...

Letting it run flat certainly will have done no good to the battery.

Is this true?? I always thought its better to only charge the battery before use. I generally run the batt down before I pack it away for a while and then I charge it up before use. I always thought that any/most batteries lose charge over time if not used.

Am I damaging the battery?  :-\

Li-ions are not like NiCad or NiMH !

see this article on wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Li-ion#Guidelines_for_prolonging_Li-ion_battery_life

the rule is: charge early

Most players have hardware protection to shut off at a safe battery level so as not to damage the battery but I certainly wouldn't let it discharge completely on purpose if your target is long battery life.
