I wouldn't worry too much about not getting the ASIO drivers working.  They are good for:
minimizing latency (which you don't care about)
direct monitoring (from the hardware - not going thru the pc - you probably don't care)
minimizing CPU load - if you're not having any trouble, don't worry about it

yeah you will be fine

i did 24/96 flawlessly on my picturebook w/out them, but had a few random pops/clicks w/out them with my newest lappy. so i started using them and everything is fine

they wont work with 5.0. there is something wrong with the 410 asio drivers and wavelab5.0a, i get them to work flawwlessly with any other version

you can choose more channels than just the 4, but it reccomends that you only use 4 to reduce pc load

Sony Vaio VGN-A150.

If I had to do it over again I would by a smallest VAIO unit from sony.com and upgrade the RAM and drive to DVD/RW. At the time I didn't know I could upgrade online. I was pressed for time and only found this unit acceptable.

Need to find a lappie with two bays for internal batteries as well.

I think my A150 model has a 1.5 centrino chip. The CPU usage during recoring with WavLab 5.0a is always low. Even with simulatenous recording with CDWave it was still under 28%. I'm very happy with my first lappie. Kind of large though. 15.4" screen but very nice for movies and such on the road.

Well, after I fried my first lappie last week I purchased the extra $400 for the extended warranty for the next five years. So I'm locked in I think.

I used the auto split feature last weekend. Worked well.

Now I'm home and have combined the two wav files for a seamless wav file but I can't save one large 24/96 wav file because Wavlab 5.0a tells me the file size is over 2 GB.

Any way around this just by using WavLab? If not, then will something like Wav Merger work and then try Wav Lab again?

Don't worry about saving it to one large file, use the Audio Montage mode in Wavelab and just line up your .Wav files and edit together and save the Montage.  It won't actually save them as a continuos file, more like an EDL (edit decision List).  It will keep all your files lined up and whatnot.  Give the Audio Montage a try, it's kinda daunting at first, but it's where the real power of Wavelab lies...

Actually, unless BB has changed their policies the warranty should be transferrable. Take a look at the certificate they gave you when you purchased it.
Governor Jim McGreevey was equally disturbed about the upcoming population increase. "New Jersey cannot support all of these wookies," he said. "For starters, we don't have nearly enough kindbud. At best, we can muster up a Q.P. of some beasties, but we've not a dime-bag more."

I will give Montage a try. Then can I use WavLab to burn a audio-dvd?

.... I bought my Vaio at C. City (not BB). I'll probably keep it at the moment as a backup if anything else when or if I find another smaller suitable lappie.

Yes, Montages are used to burn DVD-A's.  You save your Montage, then use that montage in the DVD-A process.
