BT Seeding Problems With Comcast?
« on: June 13, 2007, 06:40:26 PM »
The last two weeks anytime i seed a show
it takes a day before it sees a single peer
even though there may be a hundred or more
leechers. Downloading is no problem, uploading is fine
as long as i am downloading, as soon as the download stops
and i start to just seed, the uploading stops and i can't see one peer.

No NAT problem at all, all green lights......everything works perfect
except seeding.

What is Comcast up to?? I tryed my Verizon DSL at work and there are
no problems at all. Can see all the peers when i seed.

Anybody know whats up?

I use Utorrent with no problems.

But I have noticed that Comcast has either an up or down cap.... b/c when I'm torrenting i usually have to reset my connection the next morning.  They are shutting down my connection on their end.

Fuckers.........
I actually work for a living with music, instead of you jerk offs who wish they did.

bwaaaahahahahahaha.... that is awesome!

Not sure if this will help (but I think it might).

If you're not using uTorrent, get it. (http://www.utorrent.com)

Fire it up and click on Options > Speed Guide... (or CTRL-G). Then check the Enable Encryption box.

I was having the exact same problem about 6 months ago... Comcast... all of a sudden couldn't upload (took a day or so to connect, even with upwards of 100 leechers).  Did some research... apparently Comcast uses technique called "traffic shaping" to throttle BT upload speeds.  I got around it by using RC-4 packet encryption, available when using Azureus on Mac as follows:

In Azureus, go to the Azureus menu and select Preferences –> Connection –> Transport Encryption --> Require encrypted transport, minimum encryption level RC4.

Worked for me.

Time warner cable has supposedly started to implement this as well so anyone on RR that may be having issues with torrenting may wish to try these steps as well.

Awesome. Thanks for this info. The encryption thing solved my very same problem with uTorrent & Comcast. I had no idea what was going on, and stumbled on this post by accident. I love this place!!   ;D ;D ;D

I have not been having any problems with Azureus and Comcast, but just in case, does the encryption work with Windows as well, or only Macs?

Nah, I just split them. I built a J-disc, but I'm really trying to make the split omni thing work, for now.

try the Healy Method Chuck! Someone ran ity for MMW last summer at a bigger festival and it sounded GREAT! I think If I ever got another pair of omni's, I would ONLY run them Healy Method just from hearing that one tape from last summer. I believe it was a pair of 482's as well! and its ALOT less hassle than doing J-Disc OR Splits.....Healy method is just each mic facing the total opposite from the other one(180 degrees seperation) and both mics are perpendicular to the stage. i guess it doesnt matter how far apart theyre split, since the imaging is coming from each mic being exactly 90 degrees OFF-AXIS from teh stage :) as long as your XLR's arent hitting each other, youre good to go. I imagine that would be VERY easy with a vert bar!
