Title: Petition to Jon for the last 100 Little Boxes
Post by: Napo on November 22, 2011, 02:01:33 PM
Hi, All;

maybe it should not be me (as I am not among the oldest member of the community) but I feel to ask you to support a petition to Jon to make the LAST 100 LittleBoxes.
It could be a limited edition with special gold-colour plates (they are so valuable they deserve such a gold shine!).  8)

So 100 replies and the petition would be completed.
It is left to you, Jon, to decide whether to concur to the petition and to fix the costs of these last 100.

To the moderator: if this intiative is not appropiate, please delete the post.

PS: I have a TB and MB and I would love to complete my set with a LB with Input and Output transformers

Yeah, let's Occupy his workbench!

LOL...  That is downright funny.

That being said, I think Jon should be free to do what he thinks is best for his business.  I never pulled the trigger on a LittleBox although I checked it out a few times.  I appreciate all the time Jon spent/spends listening/reading our feedback.  It is quite a testament to his commitment to deliver a product that has the functions the purchaser wants.

OOK

Yes....OP, I don't think you understand the size of Jon's operation.

I'm pretty sure he's already stated that he hasn't figured out how to put his kids to work for these (yet).

I have littlebox v1 without any transformers and it works great. I know Jon will make tinybox v1.5+ a wonderful replacement for something we already enjoy using. If we give Jon the time to produce, he will deliver a wonderful product just like littlebox v1 and v1.5.

What about some pictures of your microphones, it would be nice to see those.

Well I did say I would build out a few more from parts on hand, but 100 is a completely silly figure.

Wou;ld you be willing to make me a KCY ONLY LB w/ Jensen output xformers ???

A hundred is way too many...he just said in the other thread that there are only not more than a hundred in existence! I, too, support Jon in his own business decisions. Although I do absolutely love my Littlebox.

How about a petition for Jon to reverse engineer the PSP-2? I'll vote for that (and would pay a significant sum, too)!  ;D

I do wish I could get a LB for my nbox cables though... the TB has been working great, but the 60v LB can provide and output transformers would simply be amazing!

I used several of Jon's products this past week (the littlebox and the PFA) and I have to say, I just marvel at what he is able to do.  Though the pres are wonderful, I almost think the PFA is the more "marvelous" invention - correct me if I'm wrong, but nobody except Jon is making those!

However many products he can or can't make, Jon is great at what he does.

We're counting on your kids growing into this project...  I'm thinking "surface mount soldering boot camp".  Tiny fingers and sharp eyes were meant to solder.

tinybox v2 will have the output transformer option, complete with a pretty colored front panel!  (to match the "colored" signal).

You just made my day after reading this ;D

In case you haven't seen the prospective feature set for tinybox v2:

I have started work on v2, which will have these added features:

Revised output stage, now with three options:

- direct (unchanged)
- super high-current (increased output power from v1.5, will drive low impedance cans better)
- mid-side decode/encode

Also, the output stage can be accessed independently, so you can have the mic input feeding a direct output on the 6-pin, and a direct input on the 6-pin feeding the output amp.  The output stage can also function as a mixer for these two sources.

I guess that was actually five options . . .  note that the direct input to the output stage is only possible with unbalanced microphone input.  There aren't enough pins available for direct in & out with balanced mic input.  Unless you want the two sources mixed.

- improved power regulation.  Not sexy, but helpful.

- improved high-volt supply current output, TBD but will be better than whatever v1.5 has (which I still haven't tested).

- output transformer option!  It can't be switchable, but you can use the direct output as a transformer bypass if that works with your configuration.  edit:  the transformer tinyboxes will be special, so they will have a special front panel:  blue anodized with orange labels :)  or maybe green with yellow labels . . .

- mic power switch option on the main power switch, so if you want you can have the mic input switch between powered and unpowered.  This will work with many but not all configurations.  You can also have the regular on/off power switch if you never need mic power off.

Also consider that 2x tinybox circuits can fit in one littlebox case and since the tinybox output has the ability to mix line inputs, you could go completely crazy if you so desired.  16 channel tinybox with trims on stereo pairs to a stereo mix in a huge case with a gonzo battery or something.
wow
as usual most of it i don't understand but it sounds great  ;D

the mic power switch, is that powered/unpowered basically so you could use sayyyy schoeps/akg as powered and plug in mics unpowered?
where if you used plug in mics on a v1 or v1.5 you would fry them

any est time frame to its release?

thanks and hope your family has a good thanksgiving (everyone)

I'm sad to see the Littlebox go... and ever so glad I pulled the trigger on one when I had the chance (1.0 w/input trafos+4AA sled). The likelihood of me getting rid of mine is very slim!  :P

I guess we just have to accept that time marches on.

WOW! judging how fast the last 10 LB were sold, my 100 units for the  petition were not so silly number.
I believe that addtional 40 would have gone in a month!

PS: Damn I was working abroad and I missed the opportunity for ordering my LB (I am a happy owner of TB and MB)

Two things:

1. I think it is so awesome that Jon makes the products he does and more amazingly you can order what he makes with so many options. With most other makers you get one option, maybe two. I've seen some crazy shit with the name Naiant on it.

2. I'm willing to bet that the streamlining that Jon is doing will result in better products. He does not seem like the type of guy that be satisfied with just settling on something.
