Something odd with a torrent
« on: July 17, 2024, 04:25:45 AM »
Last week I uploaded an old recording to Dime - an audience tape of American Music Club that I did not expect to be particularly popular.

The download count has steadily increased to over 500 which is way more than I expected but is also vastly above the number of "hits" and "views" recorded on the page - how would that be possible?

I'm also curious that I've not seen an active downloader listed over the last few days and that the number of comments seems very low for such a relatively high number of downloads.

Does this seem odd to anyone else?

There must be something wrong with their counter. I see several other recent uploads of fairly obscure artists with a few hundred downloads each.
Even a jazz recording from less than two weeks ago with over 1000 downloads shown, but only around 170 views.

It is more likely to me that there is some malformed client that is reporting the download over and over again to DIME and DIME is just reporting what the client told it.
If you have a problem relating to the Live Music Archive (http://www.archive.org/details/etree) please send an e-mail to us admins at LMA(AT)archive(DOT)org or post in the LMA thread here and we'll get on it.
