Thanks guys for taking a look.
BTW..I'll try to get hold of the Sony parts dept Monday and see if they still have any spares laying around. I'm not the only one that has this problem .They are very flimsy .Seen some of the comments on here about this.Since its an older recorder ..I'll give them a try.
I have ordered parts from Sony before for my DV camcorders which they were an older model..
For now I have to put a piece of cardboard and wrap some electrical tape around it until I find one..Or the missing one shows up.
Have a nice weekend...............

I'd check out eBay and try to find a broken one for parts. I already did that for you and there were none, but this might be a long time project for you.
I have a bunch of M10s and some are not functioning to par (bad TRS socket, un-even channel recording), but I'm not yet ready to part (no pun intended) with them yet.

Hi all.
Great news .I just called Encompass which is a Sony parts distributor for Sony and other manufactures and ordered a new cover from them. Its on backorder until next month or so.
It was $18.00 plus shipping and taxes $31.00.
I found the 64 page service manual over on Servlibcom for free online viewing only.
https://servlib.com/sony/audio/pcm-m10-pcm-m10p.html
Parts lists
https://servlib.com/sony/audio/pcm-m10-pcm-m10p.html?limit=1&start=51
I gave them the part number of the cover and they still have them available..
Dont know if any of this service manual info was brought up in these M10 threads.Have no time to look through all of the 8 sections on this recorder. Sorry to repeat the links..
I hope this extra info help anybody that want to keep their M10 going.
For this upcoming weekends show I just have to put piece of cardboards and electrical tape to keep the batteries from popping out..
Thanks guys for the help.

Ah, very nice: From the audio block diagram, it's apparent that the PCM-M10 does have a separate stage of amplification for "MIC IN" signals that isn't in the circuit when "LINE IN" is used. It's not just a feedback gain control.

Sorry for the delay.Yes it was great to find the service manual. Now I can see what makes it tick without opening the hood.

UPDATE. Still on the lookout for a battery cover.
Called Encompass Parts and tried to order from them but they said its not available anymore .
Did a show on Sept 23 with taped cardboard over the batteries and had no problems with it..
Please let me know if one shows up .
