Title: PSP-2 Battery Sleds
Post by: hi and lo on February 28, 2011, 12:55:43 PM: Have an EAA PSP-2 on the way from across the pond. Unit appears to be in great condition minus a partially cracked battery sled.

I'd like to use this unit asap and trying to put together a powering solution in advance. I know the tip size (ratshack adaptaplug size M -- 5.5mm O.D., 2.1mm I.D.b) for an external battery pack and might rig it like Todd R where the battery sled lives inside the cage, but the power cable comes back out using the external power jack.

Does anyone know of a battery sled replacement? Any more homebrew options? Obviously the original EAA sleds are no longer available, so I'm hopeful there are some creative solutions out there.

My batteries exploded inside, and my battery sled does nothing !
I ONLY power it with an external.
Use a 9V Li-Ion DVD battery. Runs a real long time.

It uses a standard 6 battery AA sled.

NEVER LEAVE BATTERIES IN IT though - as the PSP-2 always pulls a current (even when shutoff) and will cause the batteries to leak over time.

Which was the benefit of leaving the battery sled inside, but taking out the spring connectors inside and instead feeding a 5.1/2.1 connector to the external battery connector. The PSP2 only draws a current from the inner spring terminals, it doesn't draw current from the outside external battery connector when set to off -- so your batteries stay fresh and don't leak.

Zach -- I might have some extra battery sleds for the PSP2. Let me dig around the garage and see if I can find them.
