So we did some scratch track acoustic recording last night and I thought it would be fun to take a couple of condensers and run a quick comp.
This is totally unscientific, and mic position may play a small factor as well but I thought it might be interesting to have a listen. All three mics were about an inch apart and all were aimed at the neck of a Larrivee acoustic guitar at approximately the 12th fret area.
Mics were run straight into Digi 003 preamps and into ProTools. Had I thought about it a little sooner and had more time to get the test set up I would have run them through the DM4800 preamps, or at least the Tridents or something. These are simple base scratch tracks though, and will be replaced at some point anyway.
Mics used were:
Schoeps CMC621
beyerdynamic MC803
Sontronics STC-1
