Sony A-7 DAT?
« on: December 01, 2004, 02:44:43 PM »
I just got a good deal on one of these...what is it? Was it a consumer piece...? How old...? Will ProDigital fix it?

Thanks!

Its just a simple consumer home DAT player/recorder. I have the A-6 which I think is same, just older. I have no idea how old they are, but I've had mine for about 5 years now and it works fine. I use mine to transfer and unpack my dats.

I'm sure prodigital will fix it.

Need any more info?

EDIT: from Dat-Heads:

"semi-pro" machine, has scms, records from analog at 48, 44.1, and 32 khz.  Claimed to have higher quality transport, D/A, and A/D converters than consumer decks.

Wow I didn't know there were that many portable decks. Makes you wonder were they ended up.

I also have an A-7 got it off ebay over a year ago and has been solid.

I use it for transfers etc as well. Funny thing is I used it last night for the first time in a little while.

A guy gave me a DAT on Saturday night and asked me to copy the show for him. I hadn't had any reason to go Laptop -> DAT so I figured what the hell.
