Topic: Help with Adorama Stand

I just bought an adorama lighting stand to attatch my mics and stuff too and i can't figure out how to do so.  there is a weird gold piece at the very top of the stand that i can't figure out.  i can't unscrew it from the top and there is no way to screw anything to it.  HELP!!!
